From Newt Gingrich's attempt to relabel conservatism to the Sovereign Citizen movement, the Republican Party is doomed at this point. The best we can do is fight to ensure that they do not destroy the country in their death throes.

A enjoy reading a lot. I have AD/HD and it is a chore for me accomplish reading a book. This book is very easy for those who aren't politically savvy to comprehend. Mr. Downes doesn't just insert his opinions arbitrarly. He took a lot of time to offer evidence for his conclusions and his argumentation and rhetoric is very reasonable.What I enjoyed most about this book is that Mr. Downes devoted an entire chapter to the history of the Republican party and what they once stood for. AGAIN! He offers evidence for this and it's blatantly obvious that the Republicans ARE NOT a party devoted to the people like they once were.
I do not personally know Mr Downes and I am not giving a favorable review because I admire his politics. I purchased this book and if I did not believe in what he wrote I would be writing a very negative review. I am writing this because this is important information that people need to be aware of.

All one has to do is look at the bibliography to see how this book came together. The author gleaned his information from primarily left-wing websites to support his progressive agenda. I found there to be factual errors as well as poor editing resulting in duplicate paragraphs which to me indicated the lack of proof reading as well. I would not recommend this book.
In all his writing, on blogs, news site, and now in this book, I have found Mr. Downes's work to be both thought-provoking and extremely persuasive. Politics aside, one needs very little in the way of empirical evidence to see that this new evolution of the Republican Party is nowhere close to accepting the level of reason and compromise needed to effectively run government, and the author lays out his argument very well. I would highly recommend this book, and not just to liberals, but to independents and anyone willing to see past the nonsense of Fox News and the rest of the conservative media bubble.
This book was recommended to me by a loved one, who knows the author personally. I wish the language flowed more evenly, and I caught a few typos. But this is a great review on the happenings of the Republican Party and their current standing in society.
